i'm not too concerned about line length in my code. i mean, i am at work because our tools will yell at me before i can even get a pr open. but in my own code i don't really care that much about line length

we're not using 80-width terminals anymore, unless you are in which case you're probably not reading my fucking mastodon bot python source code. you're configuring vi or connecting to a bbs or looking up water type pokemon or something

For real, though: I like opening two terminals side-by-side, each gets half the screen. And if I do that on my small laptop, each of them will fit exactly 80 characters. So code that was intended to be 80 characters wide looks somewhat nicer than code that had to be wrapped. That's why I use 80 characters unless told otherwise...
