@wallhackio @amy my understanding is that hyperpop is any song where there's effects on the vocals, considering the way people use it haha
@monorail @amy autotuned vocals are a common feature, but a lot of stuff coming out of the PC music label that was part of the origin/inspiration for hyperpop wasn't autotuning vocals

the term "hyperpop" was introduced somewhere around 2019/2020 which is when 100 gecs made an impact and is probably what championed the sound most typical of the genre but 100 gecs is really a capstone (maybe evolution is a better word?) for underground electropop trends that started in the early 2010's, most famously with the PC music label
