my inability to touch type in qwerty is the reason i can in in dvorak

@monorail I'm curious, do you have any idea what your wpm is (in dvorak)

@vaporeon_ @The_T monkeytype is pretty good. i don't remember the tld but if you search "monkeytype" you'll find it

@monorail @The_T Alright, I think I got 78 words per minute on the test with numbers and punctuations (though I was much slower when I was typing the numbers)... If I'm reading the output correctly?

Though this is faster than I type in reality. Because I just type off the words that I see on the screen in the test, no need to make my own brain come up with the words first...

@vaporeon_ @monorail is it harder to type thoughts in English than German (it's German, right? if I'm wrong sorry I'm dumb)

@The_T @monorail It's hard in any language, I'm just bad at thinking (or phrasing my thoughts) TBH

I could probably improve my typing speed with more practice, but the benefit would be very marginal. About the only use-case where typing speed is the bottleneck is if I'm writing down what someone else is saying while they're speaking...

@vaporeon_ @The_T my understanding is that the keys are mapped to sounds, and you press every sound in a word simultaneously and the software just figures it out

it's hard to learn, and it probably needs some cleanup afterwards, but when you need to keep up with everything that everyone says for the duration of a day at trial? it's the only way
