(I don't honestly remember much of Old World Underground off the top of my head except "Combat Baby" and it's more the sad style there so I didn't want to use it as an example of general indie rock angst, though it might qualify.)

@alyssa I think some of the earlier stuff is just the usual indie rock angst ("Gold Guns Girls"), and there are some where it's more of a "yeah things might suck but we can still have a good time" ("Dead Disco"), but more recent songs have been somewhere between pure melancholy ("Doomscroller") and upbeat but depressed ("Now or Never Now"). Either way at this point, I think "Victim of Luck" probably answers your question.
