@alyssa Weird. On the other hand, sometimes "👍🏻" is all I really need to respond, so I guess? But it still feels weird for what is mostly treated as letters rather than short text messages.

@aschmitz yeah but the interaction model is just kinda very different. loke the reactions need to be sent as emails and even supporting clients seem to treat “somebody reacted to an email you’re CCed on” as warranting a notification. which does make sense since people don’t often look back at emails that they’ve already sent/read where they could see the reactions. but very different from what one would expect from chat systems with reactji.

@alyssa Yeah, makes sense. I wonder how they get handled across services that aren't Gmail. Exchange sends a daily summary of reactions as an email (maybe just to clients that don't natively support them? not sure), but for some reason it doesn't seem to inline the images so you have to dig around for the alt text to figure out what the reaction actually was, or load a bunch of remote content.
