this is definitely one of the more scary types of horror for me.

some of these scenes could do with more lighting

on the other hand, i'm a fan of how we never really clearly see the monsters in full

i was about to be like "okay but there's like half an hour left in this movie but i have no clue how they're gonna survive the next five minutes" but then stuff happened and okay that fits, i dig it.

if you want to optimize for scaring me personally with a horror movie, you should use these three elements:

  • bugs (bonus for ants but that's probably so much bonus i just won't watch your movie)
  • things or other people impersonating or replacing people
  • lots of high perches and falling and structural collapses

mimic did 1.5 out of 3 but i liked it a lot
