the thing about going "i don't play top tier characters because i'm not a dork, i play with worse characters and still win" or whatever is that it's not even a new obnoxious behavior for that context. we already have contrarians and already nobody likes them

@The_T captain falcon is really good, but also you don't need to play a top tier. you just need to not have "they're a top tier" as a reason why you're not playing them

@monorail 100%. And like as a casual, my character choice never comes down to tiers because I'm never going to be good enough for it to matter.
But I also feel like: you should be willing to change characters any time. If you start getting good and want to switch to the top tier, that practice wasn't wasted.
