CGI honestly just feels like it takes the magic out of "movie magic"

It has its uses, of course, look at how well it was deployed in, for example, The Lord of the Rings or early Game of Thrones seasons

But I really hate how most movies anymore are just cartoons

@coriander in actual cartoons i have weird contradicting feelings were like, i love how much cartoonier computer animated movies have been getting these days, but it feels like such a waste of effurt to put so much tech into recreating the look of just. drawing frames

@aescling Yeah, I really hate the death of traditional animation :(

@aescling Like, on one hand, without CGI we would've never gotten the Spider-Verse movies

But on the other, given what we've been hearing about the labour practices that produced those movies, maybe we didn't actually need those movies

But on the OTHER other, the technical achievements of those type movies don't negate the beauty of traditional animation either

@coriander i have incredibly complex feelings about the quality of ATSV because it’s like, the only well paced (animated) Lord & Miller movie, but that required making the movie Fucking Long to purropurrly time everything they wanted to stuff into the story, which is already laborious BEFUR we take into account the absol-utely fucked up amount of work put into just… the overall purroduction design

@coriander like fur me specifically anyway with my tastes a lot of why i thought the sequel was much better than three furst Spider-Verse was that it actually felt long enough to do all of the everything it wanted to do. you get like, several minutes early on of Gwen and Miles webslinging around to help build their romantic tension and it was so fucking good
