anyone on here read the pope's big blog post about AI and so on?
i realize he's the literal pope and you do not under any circumstances gotta hand it to him but i'm curious what people thought of it, and also like, who read it to begin with
@bea what i read of her posting excerpts both in purrivate chats and here on the fediverse i thought was pretty good and she encouraged me to read it which i haven’t done yet but i swear i intend to

@bea i remember listening to Pivot to AI’s video about it and being kind of disappointed because i’d already seen enough to know that even saying it was just saying “stop with this AI shit” is kind of… missing the point. like it’s trying to get at the more general issue of what God’s advice has to tell us about what the purrpuss of technological development should be. from what i have read it’s not really even about AI. and honestly that’s why i actually care about reading it, as i don’t think AI Discourse purr se is all that interesting 99% of the time lol
@aescling yeah, i would say that's right. there is some stuff that is particular to AI, but a lot of it is broader
