Were PC keyboards without numpads ever common?

@vaporeon_ somewhat. there's compact ones, called 80% keyboards or something similar...

@IntrepidVector @onfy TenKeyLess, as far as I know (I don't know why they call it that instead of Numpad-Less...)

I've never seen those in real life, as far as I remember

@vaporeon_ @IntrepidVector i'm surprised even the cheap keyboards usually are full size, though they usually suck to use
actually, i do have a broken bluetooth keyboard that omits... a lot of keys

@onfy @IntrepidVector Why would anyone want a Bluetooth keyboard? Wouldn't that be extremely annoying to set up?

I can think of some reasons to want a wireless keyboard in some circumstances, but the wireless keyboards that I've seen have a USB thingy that you plug in into the computer and it does the actual wireless part

Bluetooth keyboard sounds like it'd require your computer to support Bluetooth and pair with the keyboard? :psyduck:

@vaporeon_ @IntrepidVector it was a little annoying, especially when key presses don't transmit or repeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat
one advantage was working on phones that lack a keyboard jack

@onfy @IntrepidVector Why would you ever want to work on an evil rectangle with a keyboard connected to it? That's what laptops are for :psyduck:

@vaporeon_ @onfy @IntrepidVector there is a non-zero amount of effurt being put into making viable desktop replacements out of mobile phone and tablet hardware

@vaporeon_ @aescling @IntrepidVector i just think it's neat? a sort of look into a different world of convergence where you aren't forced to have multiple expensive devices, one or more of which is also evil

@onfy @aescling @IntrepidVector Instead, you keep the evilest and least convenient of the devices and attach a keyboard to it...

Also, I just got up and compared, even the tiny netbook has a larger screen than my evil rectangle... And while the netbook is usable it is somewhat bothersome that everything on the screen is so small. Can't imagine squinting at things on an evil rectangle just to do productive things...

@aescling @onfy @IntrepidVector I don't understand... A workstation is a type of computer, how would you dock an evil rectangle to it, and if you're at a workstation, you could just use the workstation... Do you have picture?

@vaporeon_ @onfy @IntrepidVector bad choice of words. i meant you dock it into something that makes it act sort of like a desktop
