Statcast is honestly so fucking cool, it's incredible that they can process so much stuff about a baseball game in real time just from some cameras in the park

Like, the fact we know instantly not only the speed of a pitch but the trajectory and what kind it was is pretty insane when you think about it

If they launched Statcast today they'd be calling it something stupid like Pitch-Reading AI but luckily it's already established

Which does also illustrate how muddied the waters have gotten when it comes to "AI" because a ton of shit that isn't even close to being AI gets called AI right now when most of the time it's just "A computer did a thing"
