started reading Beloved by Toni Morrison

the writing style here is different from Sula, it seems more..stream of consciousness with longer paragraphs

feels a little hard to get a grasp on the story

well less "stream of consciousness" more "stream of memory" since this book seems to be about memory

I was losing grasp of time here, the prose slides in and out from memory to "present" with no real indication that is what happened

the beginning of the book has a quote from the Christian bible, from Romans 9:25

"I will call them my people,
which were not my people;
and her beloved,
which was not beloved."

I looked this up in my copy of the Christian bible and in that Romans 9:25 is like this

"Although they are not my people,
I will make them my people.
I will treat with love
those nations
that have never been loved."

looked it up and I cannot seem to find the particular translation Toni used and I am also not sure if Toni is paraphrasing the phrase to suit her book or if there is particular translation of that verse that I cannot find

@packetcat it’s itself quoting Hosea 2:25, where god is prophesying that he will at some point call Israel, who he has rejected as his people, his people again
