the real detroit-style pizza is the disappointing “hot” and “ready” you picked up at little caesar’s fur five bucks on the way home. but you can’t really sell that

the sauce on those things was so mid. maybe just bad. not having enough cheese on your slice was a nightmare

re: food

@aescling Clearly they can! (Except, well, as you said, they often don't actually have it. So it simultaneously sells too well and not well enough.)

@aescling Yeah it's good because it tastes like pizza :)

re: food

@aescling Other than the herb stems in the sauce I mostly didn't mind it, but the cheese (and honestly, pizza in general) variability is a killer. It has not particularly gotten better as of late either, presumably due to the difficulty of hiring dependable people at whatever rate they're presumably paying.

(Though I do now wonder if you've tried their "Detroit style" pizza and what you think.)

@aescling @coriander Square pizza is the pizza you get at a school party where it's just like, gross tomato essence, a tiny amount of cheese if you're lucky, and the crust is just bread

@amy @aescling Pizza day at my school was they ordered from one of the actually good Detroit-style chains so I never had this experience

@coriander (pruning to avoid a hellthread situation) looks like there's one in mukilteo and one in federal way. i could probably hit up the federal way some time if i really wanted

@holly Oh I didn't know Federal Way had one too now! Excellent news

@coriander @aescling @himbovoorhees Yeah to me this is just "pizza that is square"

"Square pizza" is the one that sucks
