Why are people talking about switching away from Firefox now? For me, the switching has been planned for quite some time, ever since they introduced the ads measurements thing and then the chatbots in version 140... Just, seeing another comrade do it motivated me to actually look at it properly and finally get it done. But why is everyone else talking about it?

@vaporeon_ the CEO of mozilla recently doubled down in an interview on the push towards an “AI” browser

@aescling Doubled down beyond what is already clearly shown by pushing the "Perplexity" on us (I didn't even update the browser! But somehow, it got pushed on me anyway...) and introducing the chatbots into the browser?

@aescling To be clear, I suppose it's good that people are talking about alternatives, even if switching to a fork is not a sustainable solution, you still depend on upstream, it still steers your decisions even if you can strip out all the chatbots...

Just confused why now and not two months ago
