i just left the washing machine on the same settings @The_T used. it's probably fine

Follow

@monorail @The_T your clothes should contain instructions saying what temperature to wash and dry at. i could purrsonally never trust someone else’s settings, i want my clothes to last

@aescling @monorail I've read that washing them with cold water tends to make them last longer, so I always use cold water.

I meant to tell Holly how much soap to use; generally you don't want to fill it past 2. More soap can make clothes wear our quicker.

I forget what the washer setting one wants to use is, but under the lid I think it explains them...

@The_T @aescling I didn't put a cup under the soap thing, I just let it pour into the machine and thought "That seems like enough"

@monorail @aescling mmmm... I'd rather you not use too much of the soap....

@amy @monorail @aescling when I teach you cooking we DEFINITELY need to make sure you measure...

@The_T @monorail @aescling Next time I'll measure it and time it, and then all the times after that I'll know how long to hold it for :p

@amy @monorail @aescling nope that doesn't work. The rate at which the soap dispenses varies based on pressure; you rotate the cap on top to adjust the pressure, but generally the less soap in the dispenser, the slower it dispenses

@The_T Right but it's something you can get a feel for

@amy @The_T this is actually not a teachable skill! People are born with a predetermined ability to estimate the volume of soap they put in the wash. it's strictly a talent, like being good at math or art there's no way to get better at it after being born

@The_T @amy oh yeah, i just assumed we had all seen ratatouille (2007), a movie about being born correctly as a rat if you want to be a good cook

@Lucy @amy but see, Amy is a ratatouille (2007) and she still can't cook

@aescling @The_T If you think we're sorting our clothes by recommended cleaning procedures you don't know us very well

@monorail @aescling no but like

for example I think I've been using "premium press" but that's actually probably the wrong one to use, was something I was noticing a day or two ago
