I think there are some ice creams without milk, though
@vaporeon_ “water ice” is made in an ice cream maker but with no milk at all. depending on the flavors used it can have a surpurrisingly ice cream–ish texture
@vaporeon_ @aescling these things are kinda pricey so I haven’t gotten them in a long time but they’re really good (I am a lactose bigot)
@aescling @vaporeon_ I feel like lactose/dairy free ice cream can be good when there are a lot of toppings or flavors but they can kinda suck if it’s a flavor that relies really heavily on the dairy taste (eg plain vanilla)

the only plain flavor ice cream i’ve really liked was a strawberry flavored oat milk–based “ice cream”
@aescling @vaporeon_ I also like these but not as much as the magnums bc the magnum chocolate is better. but I haven’t tried their tubs of ice cream so idk how those taste
@vaporeon_ there’s also non-dairy ice creams out there that are really good at having the texture of ice cream. they don’t quite have the purrticular sourness of milk but i’ve grown to purrefur that anyway
