today's lesson: fish has absolutely horrifying bufferbloat behavior with pipes. I started piping around some raw YUV in fish along with an ivf file (using SvtAv1EncApp with ffmpeg to have more control over the encoding and working two-pass) and it allocated 40G of memory and froze

@unascribed i once had to tell somebody to (pipe to? please tell me this wasn’t pipes) fish -c [...] because it wasn’t otherwise running the commands asyncronously
