nintendo’s blatant exploitation of the smash community is really something

idk if hegemony is really the right way to describe it but the way much of the community (up to and including (former) top players) is happy to be officially recognized and (basically not even) supported is something else

idk seeing hungrybox get moved to tears over the panda global/nintendo tournament series was wild. why would you WANT nintendo’s involvement. did you just completely forget what their relationship with competitive smash has been this whole time

Follow

nintendo wants control over how tournaments are run and they want to provide as little of their own capital as possible and they are actually doing a pretty good job of getting both outcomes. meanwhile they have been getting free labour (as marketing) out of players and especially tournament organizers for years.
