Conversations is easily my favourite chat app i’ve ever used, especially for its UI, which was nothing special but Just Worked. had none of that really nonperformant-feeling webdev shit going on, just fast and snappy and using design cues from SMS applications
signal honestly is also really nice in that regard. just a very functional and snappy feeling UI

my opinion of the matrix protocol would probably much improve if the flagship mobile app wasn’t a native build of a web app lol
