"San Lang," Xie Lian says finally. "You know..." He ponders on how to say it.

While he thinks, Hua Cheng manages to both seem focused simultaneously on him and the road, and to make the silence feel supportive. Xie Lian smiles a little.

"You know," he says finally, "I'm not fragile. I don't mind if you drive like you normally do."

Hua Cheng turns his head all the way to look at Xie Lian. In spite of himself and the words that just came out of his mouth, Xie Lian's heart jumps a little, and he glances toward the road to make sure no one is going to run into them. Hua Cheng immediately returns to a driving position so correct a driving instructor would cry tears of joy. Xie Lian relaxes, frustrated.

"Gege," Hua Cheng says seriously, "I know you're not fragile. But cars are clearly a source of anxiety for you." Xie Lian thinks he knows why, too, though they've never spoken about it. Another of Hua Cheng's mysteries. "You deserve care and consideration."

Xie Lian huffs, but his heart melts.
