til i live close enough to worldcon, where the hugo award ceremony is held, that it wouldn't be impossible for me to get there

there's a lot of authors attending whom i have enjoyed but, idk, staying home to read more of their words seems like time better spent than getting excited about proximate carcasses
@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family @pho4cexa@tiny.tilde.website Seconding this. I am terrible in that I actively avoid all GoH/"famous people" interactions at cons and just go to hang out, go to panels (or be on panels!), and buy stuff.
They can be a bit intimidating if it's your first one and you don't have a "crew" to hang out with, but usually there will be a few organized socializing type events, and/or you will be picked up by an extrovert looking for new people to meet. It's one of those things that if you're interested, I'd definitely give it a shot at least once, and if it's not for you... well, now you know. (And if it is... hey, awesome!)
@pho4cexa it seems like the program will be released in august so you could wait until then to make your decision based on whether anything looks interesting?
