@imp agreed that we need a way higher bar for shitting on than this but also like, being a historian who does translations and being a fiction author is completely different. i’m not saying that one of those groups has more authority to complain about bad adaptions than the other (personally i think its fine when authors decide adaptations of their works are kinda shit actually) but like, really weird to claim to be an authority on how a completely different field should handle this
@Satsuma yeah like her job isn't selling books, her job is being a professor and researcher at upenn. which i'm sure drives some of this too, massive sales and for wilson it's just a nice bonus
