trying to plan for what to bring reading-wise for my upcoming weekend trip ... don't want to bring a library book because i'll lose it. so i should bring a non-library book but! the next non-library book on my docket is Six Hundred Pages and too heavy for travel. but!! i could maybe tackle some hugo reading in e-book format. but!!! i read e-books on my tablet which is also heavy and annoying to carry around. but!!!! i could read them on my phone. BUT!!!!! my phone is slowly dying and deeply annoying to charge so this is a surefire recipe for phone dying on the plane and leaving me with nothing to read
@ryfulets big mood, facing the same quandary for my upcoming trip (i decided to just bite the bullet and get the teeny xteink 4, which i’d already been considering but idk how much it will actually solve things vs just adding yet another variable)
@Satsuma oh the xteink is so cute!! i've tried an android e-reader before but the app experience for kobo etc was clunky enough that i didn't end up getting another when it died, but this is tempting ....
@ryfulets yeah fortunately a decent amount of the stuff i want to read on it anyway is like, webnovels and such where i’m already just transferring my own saved files rather than going thru a store, so the tradeoff isn’t as bad as if i was just getting things thru a dedicated store…will let you know how it goes i guess 😅
@ryfulets @superborb yeah i was also disappointed by that, though presumably one should be able to download font packages to fix? the original OS is Chinese so as long as you aren’t bothered by it being a bit clunkier you’ll presumably get full font support
@superborb @ryfulets thats good to know!
@Satsuma @ryfulets I took a look at their github page and it looks like custom Chinese font works but v slow at rendering. It's on their roadmap to add CJK support though!
