Looking at alternatives to #Discord for my 18+ MXTX server, including self-hosted options. Currently have looked the most at Stoat (formerly Revolt) and Movim which are both apparently very analogous. Both look like I’m gonna have a significant learning curve to self hosting though. So I’d welcome any suggestions for discord alternatives that are privacy-forward in practice not just in their marketing, particularly around data ownership, and also are relatively easy to get up and running. Help me Obi-wan-Kemastodon!

@TheBookewyrme i haven’t tested it yet myself but my wife recced zulip ( https://zulip.com ) as an option which looks a little more fully developed / stable then Stoat
@Satsuma Oh I’ve seen that one floating around. I was looking at a platform comparison and apparently it starts costing money after 10 users unless you fully host it yourself and the documentation isn’t the best? It also said there were no content moderation tools on it. Has your wife run into any issues around these things?
