Attending a powerlifting meet where another of my coach’s clients is competing. Planning for one later this year. The loud music is so important if I’m not allowed to wear headphones.

But the music went out while someone was squatting and NIGHTMARE.

She crushed squats and I’m so proud. Also super relieved for someone who psyched herself out on her second lift after her first was no good for what is, IMO, bad sideline judging. But she got her third.

The sideline judges are bringing their arms down about 1.5 second before the main judge gives the squat command. Every single time. So it’s intentional. If you watch the main judge and listen you’ll be ok but if you see them from the corner of your eye? You’ll jump the command.

@platypus …is there any point to this besides that they think its funny to fuck with people?

@Satsuma so some of us discussed it *and we think that they are doing this to signal to the main ref that they are ready. That’s not how it’s supposed to work and none of us had seen it before.

@platypus huh that does make sense but also it would be SO confusing if you didnt know that was the procedure
