My only contribution to the conversation is that cup size is actually meaningless without band size, one cup size on a larger band is for a much bigger boob than the same cup size on a smaller band
@rigormorphis you're right and you should say it! tbh I'm still astonished that my breast reduction surgeon back in the day talked about expected results by only referencing cup size, no band size for context. like! that's a professional in the field of breast size! and YET.
@soph_sol @rigormorphis i was going to say “well i guess your rib cage / band size isn’t going to change much during the surgery so its possible that they’re using them right” but honestly i can’t even halfheartedly defend them, 100% sure they were just using societal stereotypes about cup size because its an easy stereotype to use as a shorthand

@Satsuma oh yeah that'd be reasonable, but in this case, absolutely not worth defending the surgeon - the size I wore post-surgery, according to my bra tags, was not the size I was promised.
something about the shape/ composition of my torso meant that if I wanted support from a bra, I had to wear a band size that made specialty bra store staff (who know that bands should be tight!) think I wore mine alarminly tight. and also iirc that was in a thinner era of my life. so those things combined to mean that my conception a size C (which is what I was promised), based on my usual band size, was pretty small! and I needed an F cup after the reduction.
when I hesitantly brought it up with my surgeon in a post-op consult, she was like, oh....no, well, you know, I meant a general size C, not your specific size C....this result is exactly what I was aiming for.....the smallest that could be achieved while still maintaining a nice shape, of course..... 🙄

@Satsuma yeahhhhh I think she was highly competent at successfully achieving social beauty norms via plastic surgery, so if that's the result you want for whatever procedure you see her for, you'll be very happy with her! but if you are hoping for anything else - well, too bad, she's not going to put the effort into working with you on that. ughhhhh. and of course at the time I blamed myself for not having pushed for more specifics prior to the surgery. but I trusted that she knew what she was talking about with her size reference!!!
