Bluesky is not really for me. I know this, but remembering or articulating the *reasons* is harder.
But I thought about it, and I think a large portion is the lack of alt text. Not even because I need alt text to see some images, though that is also true. It’s because if an image isn’t described, and it contains one of my triggers, my filters can’t catch it.
I wonder if I could make it better by somehow telling my browser not to load any images on certain sites (Bluesky, Tumblr), or even certain pages of a site (like my “this person I’m following doesn’t consistently use alt text” hid-from-home list on Blorbo, or the local timeline on Blorbo).
I’d honestly be pretty happy seeing text only. If a piece of art doesn’t have alt text, I’m not boosting it anyway. If I see alt text that makes me want to try to look at the image, I could bookmark it and look at it on a different browser or something.
Now the problem is how to tell my browser to do that. 🥲 I hope there’s a pre-existing tool.
