The bench is likely to mirror a lot of our life here: creatively designed, messily implemented, and made from leftovers found in the basement.

@RussSharek our basement is full of shelving made out of doors, which i’ll admit before we moved in i had not considered that a house might have enough spare doors to even consider such a thing

@Satsuma

Door shelves sound like a wonderful way to use what you have!

There was a doorframe, now removed, that didn't have a door on it. I hope we discover it tucked away somewhere, as all the doors upstairs are old and interesting.

@Satsuma

There are a number of doors here in terrible condition, and we've been discussing creative ideas like collage to repair them.

@Satsuma @RussSharek

I once lived in a place that used a door for a tabletop. It mostly worked so long as we remembered not to set any cups down on the deeply beveled borders of the individual panels, nor anything through the hole that once held the doorknob.

I've seen door used as desks where the knob hole got a grommet added for cable management.
