I've been married for 22 years and have been responsible for meal preparation for all that time. I've always said that I don't like to cook, but I do like to eat, so I have no other option but to cook most days...
But... I have many friends who sew their own clothing (both cosplay and every day clothes). And although I like to wear clothes, I have almost never felt compelled to make my entire wardrobe from scratch.
I am fortunate enough to have options, even if I don't always choose them.
@twotone this is true! though its worth noting that cooking is vastly more affordable than even the cheapest takeout while making ones own clothing is not infrequently the more expensive option
so even if they are both choices, there’s a lot more pressure towards cooking for oneself over sewing for oneself
