@Satsuma haha yes it does feel counterintuitive! but the complexity in chickadee calls is about communicating info on potential dangers! the most obvious being, the more dees at the end (chicke-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee...), the more worried other birds should be. and many other species of songbird pay attention to the warnings in chickadee calls, not just other chickadees!

@Satsuma no that's the chickadee call! the song (at least for black-capped chickadee) is a two-note clear-toned whistle
