@onfy @monorail so interesting thing about this. Apparently 99% of people feed their cat once or twice a day or whatever, because most cats if left with a constant feeder would overeat.
My childhood cat, the entire time I had it, just had a constant feeder it could eat from at any time, and it was never an issue?? And apparently that just, isn't normal, for cats
@The_T @onfy @monorail I wonder if that's a difference between stray cats that someone took in and cats who always have had reliable access to food?
We just try to always keep the cats' food bowl full, and they don't seem to be over-eating... But also we had these cats since they were kittens, they always had reliable access to food, never had to worry about it...
It totally would make sense for a cat who did have to worry about food to eat all the food while it's there
@The_T @vaporeon_ @onfy @monorail a lot of cats will eat when they’re bored also, which i think is often the issue with housecats who didn’t have any food insecurity

@Satsuma @The_T @onfy @monorail Never thought about that, but makes sense! I also do that, if I don't have anything better to do with my time and there's food available, then I'll eat the food
