Last night, I made a list of 12 things I wanted to do today for the move, 4 of which were "must do to avoid bad outcomes."

I've done three of them.

"Pack luggage for flight" is the last one. I kind of want to do it now and get it over with, and kind of want to work on pruning possessions, because I can't donate anything else after 5PM and I can still pack luggage after 5PM.

Anyway, I should get up again and do something.

Went back to pruning the kitchen since it's the most likely remaining source of donations. Filled another few boxes with stuff to donate, so I have to make another run to the thrift store in the next 2 hours. But I finished pruning the kitchen!

I should do the bathroom next.

I pruned the bathroom and made another run to the thrift store.

I forgot some things I wanted to donate because they weren't in the places I was checking. But it's too late now because the car transport folks want to pick it up tonight. Yay. They plan to deliver it in two days, too, so it'll get there before I do also. (My parents can receive it, it's fine).

I had not eaten a food since breakfast so I just had some. Now I'll get some ice cream and then pack luggage.

Packing luggage took a while because I kept getting distracted by other move-related things. But. Packing done now except for the devices I'll be using tonight and the boarding pass I can't get until Friday.

Because I am packing on Wednesday for a Saturday flight

moving is terrible. x_x

Also, I got everything off the bed so I can tell the movers not to pack things on top of the bed.

I loaded and started the dishwasher, then went to the extension. I'm telling the movers not to pack anything in the extension because there's so little in there I want.

So I collected the few things I knew I wanted, then poked through the accumulated piles of stuff to see if there was anything else. The stuff I'd collected from my office in 2020 after 6 months of WFH was still in there, unsorted, because anything I hadn't needed for 6 months couldn't be important.

Lut never liked to be photographed. I have very few pictures of him, and most of those are of the cat and he's partially out of frame.

Once, when we dressed up for an office party in the early 2000s, the party photographer took a film photo of us and we got a copy later. It is the only good photo I had of him.

I'd forgotten I kept it on my desk at work.

If I hadn't gone through that stuff just now, I would've left it behind.

...I am so relieved.

Finding the lost photo last night inspired me to hunt through the rest of the basement and Lut's closet for things I might want.

I found a few things to keep, but nothing very important.

I also discovered a half-box of books in the basement and two big tubs crammed with books in the closet. 😭 My car is already gone, so odds of donating the books now are tragically low.

I'm seeing my local friend before I leave, just to visit, and I may ask him to drive me about to donate remaining stuff. The closer used book store (not super close) might take a few hundred books. I also have some stuff that didn't make it on a thrift store run.

I have moved to the "guest in my own house" stage of this move: everything that I'm taking with me is gone, but I'm still here for another 24 hours.

I still have furniture: the living room couch and loveseat, where I had Pretend Coffee Shop for so many years. And my bed: the mattress is old and the frame is for a waterbed, so I'll get a new bed instead.

I've never done a move like this before. As a kid, we left when the stuff did. As an adult, I traveled with it.

If I'd been certain the move would be done by this time, I'd've gotten plane tickets for today instead of tomorrow. But there was no way of predicting the timing to the minute like that. Also, this meant I didn't have to lock Lyric in a room while the movers worked to keep her from getting outside.

I am afraid Lyric will be panicked by all the change. Tomorrow will be the worst for her. 5-6 hours in a cat carrier. D:

I am so tired.

I forgot to tell the movers to take the free weights. I am mostly upset about this because I went to the trouble of cleaning them and it was very annoying and I wouldn't've done that if I'd known I would forget. Should've made a list of what the movers were taking instead of assuming I'd remember.

Oh well. At least I didn't forget the boxes from the basement, which would've upset me much more to lose.

I should nap now. I haven't had a nap in three days and the best sleep I've had in that time was the 5.5 hours I slept last night. I will see my friend later today, but he's not a morning person and may not even be awake yet.

I am on the airplane now! It is a mostly empty flight. Plane has not taken off yet, so I haven't stuffed Lyric under the seat. She's in the empty seat next to me instead. She's been meowing frequently but not non-stop. Quiet right now, which is nice. Will probably start up again when I have to move her, though. 😬

Lyric and I are at our new home! 🥳

It was the worst day of Lyric's life but she is now exploring all of her new demesne.

She actually did pee while in the carrier, but she kind of balled up the puppy pads and used those, so it got absorbed by the puppy pads and did not make a mess of the carrier, get on her, or smell very strongly. I wasn't even sure she had until I let her out at the new house.

So wow, that worked much better than I'd hoped.

My stuff all arrived this morning!

I have unpacked four boxes.

Just ~50 more to go!

I am exhausted but there's no deadline on it so whatever. It'll get done when it gets done.

My bedroom is so full of boxes that there's not really space to put something to unpack the boxes into so that may be a problem. 😬

My parents' internet keeps flaking out. So when my device doesn't load a page or a game, I ask aloud, "Does Spectrum want me to unpack another box?" and then my brother goes, "Yes" (and sometimes resets the router.)

Lyric's old cat tree in bad shape, so I didn't bring it and bought her a fancier new one when I got down here. She's enjoying it. 💜

I am trying to get my desktop connected to the wifi at my parents place.

It is not going well.
