apparently a decent amount of catfishes are obligately blowjob-reproducers, not just among the callichthyids! i wonder how common this is amongst non-catfish.
for those who don’t know how this works- the females suck the sperm out of the male’s cloaca, and then push it through their digestive tract very quickly and push it out their cloaca simultaneously with their eggs. The fastest bowel movements in nature are known from some Corydoras species which do this!
