@Betty no punctuation at all i think yeah :/

@Satsuma @Betty iirc there’s at least one Unicode character that looks like an n-dash but isn’t counted as punctuation, and back at the start of the pandemic people were using it to hashtag ‘Covid-19’.

I read about it at the time, but can’t remember if it’s a Thai character and a Japanese person started using it for that purpose on Twitter, or a Japanese character and a Thai person. 🤔 I just remember seeing it a lot.

@Betty @Satsuma

#testing一testing yeah, that works! It’s not the one I was thinking of—I went to try looking it up again, but got distracted. 😅

@Betty @Satsuma aha! The one widely used in the covid-19 hashtag was the katakana-hiragana prolonged sound mark: ー

@villainousfriend I cannot remember in exactly what context I saw someone using it as an aesthetic m dash because they liked the little ... serif? at the ends.

@Betty sadly the font used by this app (Toot!) is refusing to give me the serifs. No aesthetic for me.

@villainousfriend I think they might have been using them in ao3 in place of hr/
