@pastelsinmysky how many hours, roughly, do you think it’ll take you to make it? (including time on not technically the vest itself but useful stuff like swatches for gauge check)
@pastelsinmysky @Satsuma I think it's always right to do the hourly rate math and to value your time properly, even if you heavily discount in the end because it's for friends/family.
Also gratz! A commission is such a compliment. (But that doesn't mean you should undervalue your time!)
@pixelcats @pastelsinmysky yeah when i took commissions (baking, not yarn but the principle applies generally based on my convos with other artist friends) i never framed my prices in terms of hourly rates to customers, but coming up with that number was such an important reasonableness check.
@Satsuma @pixelcats thank you both!! this has been v helpful
@pastelsinmysky @Satsuma You're welcome! I still struggle with pricing products/giving quotes. It's hard!
Am excited to hear how your project goes!
@Satsuma @pixelcats gonna reply to both of you since you asked the same thing! i’m not really sure tho! 🙈 i hadn’t considered stuff like swatching…
10-15 actual hours feels like a number in my head?? but i’m not sure (v bad perception of time)! it is chunky, so it should go fast. but you guys think an hourly rate seems like the right idea?
