to be clear, I get that instance operators have their own preferences and need to consider and balance the needs of their users. but I also want nothing to do with bluesky or threads or any of those assholes, so I will be defederating with instances that are integrating them

@pagrus are people even able to federate with Bluesky? I was under the impression that it was RSS only.

@titania @pagrus not in house, but there are definitely some instances using fed.brid.gy/ to federate by proxy

@Satsuma Huh. Well, ty. I haven't paid any attention to Bluesky, so. @pagrus

@titania @pagrus yeah i only know about it bc when they first spun up the service there was a whole bunch of Discourse (i think they’d started out being opt-out instead of opt-in which is always a surefire way to piss fedi off lol)

@titania@retro.pizza @Satsuma@glitch.cat.family well it was more like "but getting consent is haaaaarrrd, and if I don't force it on people then no one will ever discover how awesome it is"

@titania@retro.pizza @Satsuma@glitch.cat.family but this came up again recently because of a conversation with @tek@freeradical.zone about whether or not to allow it on his instance
