Organizations, I’m begging you. What the fuck am I supposed to do with a QR code displayed on my phone screen? Grab my second phone to open it? If you’re worried about a URL being censored by a company, then do your own partial censor that is still legible.

@platypus @jemjabella In my naivety I thought you could tap on them and it’d take you to said website (what’s wrong with a link if that was the case…) but nope I’m wrong about that, so this just amplifies your point even more 🤣 *insert “y tho” meme here*

@harrybo @jemjabella I think what is getting people confused is that your camera app itself is the one with the built-in reader. To my knowledge, screenshots on most phone systems do not do the same. And definitely not viewing.

@jemjabella @harrybo @platypus iphones can use the built in reader from several apps including photos (which is where screenshots usually end up) & files (where photos go if i tap and hold to save). i just tested to double check and i can open qr’s in screenshots from both

@jemjabella @harrybo @platypus yeah obviously if that’s not an option on other operating systems then people should probably not be posting qr codes anyway. but i’ll admit i’d never considered that feature wasn’t standard, and i bet a lot of people posting qr codes are in the same boat haha
