For #WipWednesday, have a pic of my sweater-in-the-making. I belatedly put a marker thread in, so now I know I'm at 77 lines. I nearly exclusively work on it on public transport. Not interesting pattern-wise, just a big stockinette rectangle with eventually a bit of a dip for the back of the neck. But it's my first big knitting project, and I never finished one of the handful of small ones I tried...

@Anke the color runs (is thwt the right word?) caused by the variegations in the yarn looks so cool! and i’m sure the finished sweater will be very cozy to wear too

@varve @Satsuma I thought colorway was the name for the yarn. Like, one colorway one on style of multicolored yarn.

@Anke @Satsuma idk, I've always heard it used to refer to a combination of colours, that a given pattern would be available in different colorways.

@varve ah,, true, now that you mention I remember I heard it used like that about fabric. I was just stuck on yarn.
I think what @Satsuma meant was that because the same colour in one line often touches/overlaps with that same colour in the next line, the "print" of the yarn here creates pathways up and down the finished piece.

@varve @Anke yeah thats what i was trying to refer to! sometimes with variegated yarns the different bits of a particular color stay very disconnected from each other while other times they line up/are adjacent and those two types of variegation tend to have very different effects visually.
