I feel like I JUST saw someone asking this the other day but: how do you message someone on discord without already being friends or being in a discord with them? the only thing I can find to do via the messaging page on the app is send a friend request.... I want to ask about a fth thing!

@soph_sol it depends on the person—most people have their discord privacy settings set to either not accept DMs from non-friends at all, or to only accept if you two share a server (mine is the latter)
Which is basically a long way of saying ‘yes you will probably have to send a friend request if you don’t at least share a server’
