Had a somewhat confused discussion about yuca with the spouse this morning, resolved when I pulled up various websites and explained that yuca != yucca, but also != jicama.

@fade root veggie names are wonderfully confusing. Sometimes I like to go look at the wikipedia turnip disambiguation page for fun.

@PraisegodBarebones @fade and jicama is present on the page too…

oh, wait, they split the disambiguation page up! The page I’m thinking of is now the Turnip (terminology) page:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turnip

@PraisegodBarebones @fade @gannet wait England calls jicama a yam‽

…..what do they call yams then???

@Satsuma I think yams might be my nemesis just based on how unpredictable they can be. Will it be a sweet potato? A slimy mountain yam? Some other kind of root vegetable that may or may not behave like any of the above?

@twotone truly the most confusing of root vegetable names!
