weird how some people think of rice cookers as this kind of luxury item? like, I'm not even fully asian and they were considered super basic in our household. we ate a lot of rice though, maybe that's the difference

@pagrus i’ve lived in a house with one since I was fairly young also (and am not asian) — i think if you already have some sort of slow/pressure cooker already enough of the features are duplicated that maybe it feels unnecessary? or if you just dont eat much rice / eat stuff like tahdeek that rice cookers cant do

but rice cookers do their primary job sooooo well and their secondary functions are also v convenient so like, I’ve only got 4 appliances total and I’d rank the rice cooker 2nd in terms of essentiality
