I still don't know why these aren't rising (tbh prob bc mixing things haphazardly). this is better than my lemon poppyseed bread (see thread). Tastes like a really good muffin, moist inside crispy outside.
Used this recipe for Gâteau au yaourt. I subbed lemon zest for a some amount of lemon juice you can't really taste, and added some cinnamon & frozen blueberries. it's sweeter than I would like, so I recommend cutting the sugar by 1/3-1/4.

Inspired by this episode of The Splendid Table Podcast (again, my favorite home cooking podcast), with Aleksandra Crapanzano, author of "Gateau: The Surprising Simplicity of French Cakes". I think it's interesting children are taught to make cakes at a young age so they can be prepared quickly and simply at any time. I'm a big fan of recipes that are tried and true and pulled out of your pocket like this.
