Going out to vote (Yes) soon.

Huh, there are NO polling places in the Melbourne CBD. Buggrit.

I'm going to Altona for brunch later this morning, so I guess I'll look up Altona polling places.

Oh come ON. None near Altona station either.

Welp. I might get a tram down to Docklands, that's probably easiest.

(Yes, I could've done a postal vote, but I quite like the ritual of going to the polling place on the day.)

Caught a tram to the Docklands Library and the queue was ridiculous. I guess everyone who lives down my end of the CBD as well as every Docklands resident is here this morning.

I can't stand for that long. 🙁

So! I am having a coffee and waiting to see if the line gets any shorter.

If not, I'll go to brunch and try to vote again this afternoon.

@lookitmychicken this seems like a dire lack of polling places, postal vote being an option or no

@Satsuma
It's not something I'd normally expect. We're usually pretty good about having plenty of accessible polling places.

This is the first time I've voted since moving to Melbourne CBD. I don't know if this is what typically happens in this area.

@lookitmychicken hopefully there was just some sort of problem, and next election you will have more then? But maybe worth a call to complain to a local representative or something bc it really shouldn’t be that difficult

@Satsuma
Yep it's definitely not up to expectations.

Good news, @eyebrowofdoom drove me to a polling place in Altona, and I've done my civic duty now. 🕺
