So... am I understanding correctly that opting into full-text search exposes to the search not only one's own public posts, but also potentially everyone who has interacted with those posts by clicking through? If so that seems like a whole new calculus to the opt-in question...
@ljwrites i already hated it (if I want posts to be searchable, that's what hashtags are for anyway!) but that's...really really bad if that's the case
@vicorva@ljwrites I think this update could've just benefited from only having the improved hashtag handling, and no full text search, to see if it would be a good in between for both sides of the issue. If that makes sense?
@ljwrites@vicorva there seems to be close to 40-40 (if not 50-50) on the search and no search. But I'm wondering how much of it is old and new users. 🤔
@ljwrites@vicorva one other thing that bothers me is that I'm now automatically opted in to searching everyone else's posts, when that's not what I want. 😅
@ljwrites@platypus@vicorva@maloki yeah that is also the part i want an opt in for (we’re running a fork so we dont have the new fulltext search yet fortunately)
@Satsuma @ljwrites @platypus @vicorva this is probably helpful

But not solving the problem of having the new behavior be for everyone.
