damn, it's obvious how much ao3 has become the central place for fanfic to take place when we experience a day like this, with the archive fully down for hours and then only erratically up. I haven't read a single word of fanfic all day, and I don't remember the last time that's been true!

@soph_sol I had lucky timing, and anyway I have lots to read on my eReader (novels and longer fics), but this is definitely a reminder to save fics, either fics you love or that you still want to read. I had a scare once when I realized some of my bookmarked fics had been taken off AO3, and started downloading favorites. But I've neglected it since...

@thalassa @soph_sol I've gotten good about downloading fic I've read and loved, but I'm eternally behind on my reading. I kinda wish there were some app or add-on to go through my "marked for later" heap and download them in bulk, just in case.

@thalassa @umadoshi @soph_sol if you’re willing to fuck around with python scripts, nianeyna’s ao3 bulk downloader should be able to handle that (i’ve been meaning to go through and back up copies of all my bookmarked fics)

@Satsuma @thalassa @soph_sol Good to know, although my coding ability is beyond nonexistent. (Spouse's isn't, though. Hmm.)

@umadoshi @thalassa @soph_sol you shouldnt have to actually touch any of the code yourself, & i know cyberbrain was able to get it running pretty easily last month so it seems pretty doable…but yeah it’s a bit more complex than just downloading an app on your phone and not everyone has the energy for that

Asking spouse to take a look seems like a great plan haha
