@Are0h i loved the first one so much but i keep forgetting to find somewhere to watch the others! everyone in philly is obsessed w/the whole series tho so i’m sure i will
@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family Yo, the first one still gets me. It's such a compelling exploration of anger, abandonment, and trying to find your way out of it when you don't have the tools.
It also has the single greatest boxing scene I've ever seen in a movie.
@Are0h the character work for Adonis is just phenomenal
& agreed on the boxing — i am not a huge boxing film person so i can’t compare but i was def wowed by the artistry
@Are0h i have heard more of the boxing in Creed is done by actual boxers than in the orig series, which may account for some of that
They did a great job on the local aspects as well which we all appreciated. Normally if they even bother setting something in Philly they just dress all the sets like NYC lol
@Are0h thats really cool! they def used his talent well
and yeah they did a fantastic job tho some of that was their restraint — eg. all the posters in the background Johnny Brenda’s are real local artists bc when they shot at the bar they didn’t redress anything
@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family Haha, now I gotta watch it again because I didn't know any of this.
@Are0h it was all anyone around here could talk about when the 1st one came out 😂 my whole fam went out to see & everything
@Satsuma@glitch.cat.family Oh yeah, they had quite a few pros involved. They had a guy in the first movie who was literally one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world during his run. His name is Andre Ward.
Ah, I didn't know that. It felt like they were trying to make Philly itself a character, but I didn't know how successful they were because I hadn't spent much time there.
