If an object is "Made by Artist/maker unknown, Dutch Assayed by the assay master of Kingston, Jamaica" does that mean it was made in the Netherlands and imported to Jamaica for trading, or was it made in Jamaica and then traded by a dutch guy?
@Jo in https://philamuseum.org/collection/object/90644 which uses that phrasing the geography metadata further down the page specifies “Probably made in Netherlands, Europe”
@Satsuma There were a few auctions I found online associated with the same assay master that id'd their contents as "Jamaican Silver" which threw me into doubt.
