Loving Spouse has reminded me that this coming Tuesday is PANCAKE TUESDAY.
Not that we're really observant, but it just seems fun to make a specific day for making and eating pancakes.
Now... do I replicate the crepe style, or the more puffy, baking powdered American variety or... both...?

@OldBrushNewPaper i pregamed with pancakes today, but will definitely be making more! i haven’t made dutch baby (eggy almost soufflé like oven pancake) in a long while so i might try that on the actual tuesday

@Satsuma Oooh, I've never heard of Dutch Baby....? Tell me more? How did you first learn of it?

@OldBrushNewPaper dutch as in deutsch i believe — or at least thats a safe bet here in PA :) The internet tells me they’re similar to popovers? Basically a very eggy unleavened pancake batter (usually spiced, i like cardamom and nutmeg) is poured into a preheated cast iron pan full of butter and popped in a fairly hot oven for about 10 min (depends exactly how hot, and how much batter per size of pan, and…) and the heat causes steam which causes it to turn all puffed up and wrinkly
serve slices with powdered sugar and lemon juice or fruit compote, depending on ones preference and try not to burn your tongue

@OldBrushNewPaper yeah they’re tasty!
The Nederlands would have been a very reasonable assumption —its a common corruption around here though, where theres a lot more people of german heritage
