We are celebrating the birthdays of both my kids next weekend. Normally, we’d do one birthday on one weekend and the other birthday on the next weekend. However, spring break interferes this year. So we’re going to end up with cakes on consecutive days.

This is complicated by the youngest child wanting a strawberry cake, and I haven’t been thrilled with the recipes I’ve tried in the past so I’m experimenting this weekend.

Eldest child wants a “cake pie” (so he doesn’t have to choose between cake or pie) which also requires some experimentation.

@kiesa shoofly pie is very cakey, if eldest child likes molasses?

Food

@Satsuma oh, interesting! He’s not really into molasses but I’m going to have to try this sometime now :)

@kiesa yeah molasses definitely isn’t for everyone! I’m sure you’ll figure something out :)

I don’t think it’s too common outside of PA, but its easy enough to make if you ever decide to try it. I’m a big fan even tho its generally regarded as a bit old fashioned these days
