... even though their days go from 9 am instead of midnight... they still only get paid for holidays on the actual day that starts and ends at midnight...

:coolhhHHAAAHHH:

here lies kitty, the rules around holiday pay were too fucking complicated and stupid

i can't believe i managed to get the holiday pay calculation down to a simple sumproduct formula only to remember that i actually have to somehow determine if the hours being taken overlap with a specific 24 hour period totally distinct from the days represented by the rows in my table

Excel Hell

@KittyUnpretty honestly at this point i think you should just tell HR to change the rules 😂

@Satsuma genuinely i cannot imagine that the head of this dept enjoys manually going through all these timesheets only to have me calling about errors and making corrections

she can basically do whatever she wants over there which is why the 9am thing happened at all, so it feels like something i COULD ask her about to make all our lives easier, but fuck if i know

@KittyUnpretty if she’s the one who came up with the 9 AM idea then I feel like she’d probably also be on board with ‘hey can we say that holidays start at the start of the work day for the sake of consistency’ is reasonable? But then again this whole situation is unreasonable so who knows if that’d actually matter lol
